Sponge Cola scores a Diamond!

SPONGE COLA, considered one of the most successful bands of this generation, spawning numerous hits, sold-out concerts, and multi-platinum albums, has reached another milestone in their career by being awarded a Diamond Record Award for their Tambay EP, which has sold more than 150,000 units so far. The band was given the Diamond Record Award by Universal Records as represented by its General Manager Kathleen Go on ASAP Rocks.


“To all those who continue to support Sponge Cola, maraming maraming salamat po,” says band frontman Yael Yuzon. “This recognition is overwhelming. Rest assured that we, Sponge Cola, will continue to make good music for everyone.”
Composed of Yael (vocals/guitars), Erwin Armovit (lead guitars), Gosh Dilay (bass) and new member Tedmark Cruz (drums), Sponge Cola has consistently been churning hits after hits after hits since their first release in 2004.  All members of the band are Ateneo De Manila University graduates.
Their impressive line-up of hits includes, among others, “Gemini,” “Bitiw,” ”Puso,” “Tambay,” “Regal,” and their current hit “Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay” from their latest album  “Araw. Oras. Tagpuan.” The band also made impressive covers of Madonna’s “Crazy For You” and APO’s “Saan Na Nga Ba Ang Barkada” and “Nakapagtataka.”
