Tutuban Center launches Tutuban Center Home Club

Tutuban Center, Manila’s bargain shopping destination, recently established the Tutuban Center Home Club (TC Home Club) as part of its community development activities.

TC Home Club seeks to empower women of today, especially the underprivileged ones living within the Tutuban Center community and nearby cities with little or no education, to gain the confidence of facing challenges in life when raising a family. The club will seek these mothers and reach out to them by providing a venue for trainings and seminars to help them develop and discover specific skills they may have to become a possible source of livelihood.



The 3-hour training sessions started last February 5, 2016 and will run every Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. until March 11, 2016 at the Tutuban Center Food Court located at the 3rd floor of Tutuban Center Centermall and at Tutuban Center TMX exhibition center.

During the initial session, the mothers underwent training sessions to learn how to become a massage therapist, barista, manicurist/pedicurist, haircutter, or even how to make sweet treats like “pastillas.” Training was provided by representatives from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority or TESDA. Attendees were also handed out TC Home Club shirts, ID cards, and other peripherals, including eco-bags.



Next training sessions will teach women from different backgrounds how to become entrepreneurs, cosmetics/make-up application, even vital tips on parenting and other important topics.

To join TC Home Club, participants must show a Barangay Clearance, ID and duly accomplished TC Home Club registration form at the Tutuban Center Marketing Office located near the Tutuban Center Food Court. Also, this event would not be possible without Smart Communications, Inc., DKT Health, Inc., Torque Philippines, Robinsons Supermarket, Department of Health – Commission on Population, TESDA, Kalye Negosyo and HBC.

“We hope more women will join our training sessions because it will definitely help them be more self-reliant as they face life’s challenges. We invite them to attend because they will definitely learn here. And if these initial sessions prove successful, we can hopefully extend this program for the whole year,” says Ms. Sylvia Tecson, Vice President for Sales and Marketing of Tutuban Properties, Inc. (TPI).

The search is on for the first Modele Philippines

An anonymous mannequin doesn’t become a cover girl overnight, nor does a boy next door become a runway gentleman the next day. An unknown or inexperienced model needs all the honing, polishing and nurturing on the rudiments of modeling that he or she can get to make it big in the industry.

Fortunately for newbies, an undertaking envisioned to be the most glamorous, most prestigious and game-changing modeling contest in the country, Modèle Philippines, will be presented by the Zen Institute with A Concept as producers, legendary designer/model discoverer Renee Salud at the helm. The contest will be in partnership with the country’s most esteemed models’ guild, the Professional Models Association of the Philippines (PMAP).



Modèle Philippines will conduct a nationwide screening process, from the cities to the hinterlands, to discover and mentor aspiring or experienced models with immense potential to become the next Filipino model archetype and influence the course of professional modeling in the Philippines. It is also PMAP’s first foray into modeling contests after 28 years of existence.

The contest aims to attract “premium” candidates through handsome cash prizes, upgraded non-cash prizes, talent contracts, product endorsements, plus automatic membership into the elite circle of models that is the PMAP. Girls must at least be 5’8 tall with a waistline of 24 inches, while the boys must at least be 5’11 tall.
Go-see judges shall narrow down the list to 10 male and 10 female model-aspirants competing for the title They will join modeling greats and PMAP alumni such as Tina Maristela Ocampo, Marina Benipayo, Tweetie de Leon, Apples Aberin, Patty Betita, Phoemela Baranda, Rissa Mananquil and many iconic others.

The competition is unique in the sense that the stalwarts of modeling – all luminaries of PMAP -- will serve as mentors to the contestants. Model mentors from the ranks of PMAP will be matched to each of the candidates.

The competition will have four preliminary “challenges.” Each challenge is to be preceded by a master class to be conducted by a fashion luminary (model, photographer, stylist, director, etc.). These are the Catwalk Challenge, the Model Look Challenge, the Face Challenge and the Body Challenge.

The first Modèle Philippines winner will receive a high level of exposure in the modeling world, the opportunity to work with the industry’s best, a one-year endorsement contract with Zen Institute, a fashion spread in a top fashion magazine, free trip to Thailand and a cash prizes.
